The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) challenging the election of Senator Monday Okpebholo.
The three-member panel, led by Justice Wilfred Kpochi, struck out the case after SDP’s legal counsel, Jackson Ehiabhi, informed the Tribunal that the party no longer wished to proceed with the case. According to Ehiabhi, the decision followed a directive from the SDP National Secretariat, instructing the withdrawal of the petition.
With this withdrawal, Senator Okpebholo’s election remains unchallenged by the SDP, marking a significant development in Edo State’s post-election legal battles.
