Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare and education of orphans, emphasizing that no child in the state should feel neglected due to the loss of their parents.
Speaking at the flag-off of the Governor Ododo Orphan Students Care (GOOS-Care) initiative in Lokoja, organized by the Kogi State Forum of Local Government Special Assistants (LSAs), the governor assured beneficiaries that the government is committed to their growth and development.
“You are not orphans as long as we have God Almighty,” Governor Ododo said, encouraging the students to believe in themselves and rise above emotional challenges.
The governor commended the LSAs for their dedication to grassroots governance, describing the initiative as a significant step toward bridging the gap between the government and the people.
“This initiative shows that our decisions have been right because this government is truly for the people,” he stated.
Governor Ododo further stressed the importance of collective responsibility in governance, urging leaders to prioritize service to the people. He assured the LSAs of his administration’s plans to address pending appointments and other concerns, reinforcing his commitment to grassroots supporters.
Auditor General for Local Government, Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege, praised the GOOS-Care initiative as a critical tool for enhancing education and community development.
He encouraged beneficiaries to use the provided resources wisely and underscored the importance of sustaining the programme for long-term impact.
Chairman of the LSAs Forum, Jafar Kamarudeen expressed heartfelt gratitude to Governor Ododo for his visionary leadership, assuring that the programme would be maintained to continue uplifting the lives of orphans across the state.

The GOOS-Care initiative marks another milestone in Governor Ododo’s administration, reinforcing its dedication to fostering hope and opportunity for Kogi’s most vulnerable children.
