In a significant step toward modernizing Nigeria’s military preparedness, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Olatubosun, has unveiled a Manual on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Warfare at the 2025 Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Conference in Minna.
This groundbreaking manual marks a strategic shift in the Nigerian Army’s approach to tackling evolving security threats, reinforcing its focus on specialized training and inter-agency collaboration.
Addressing officers and soldiers at the TRADOC Headquarters, Lt. Gen. Olatubosun emphasized the Army’s readiness to embrace cutting-edge doctrines and technologies in the face of modern threats, including terrorism, banditry, and economic crimes.
He noted that the manual’s launch aligns with his command philosophy, which prioritizes Leadership, Professionalism, and Combat Readiness as pillars for shaping a more resilient force.
The Army Chief highlighted that the newly introduced doctrine underscores the importance of preparedness against unconventional warfare threats. “This manual will not only enhance our response strategies but also ensure that our personnel are equipped to handle emergencies involving hazardous materials effectively,” he said.
Beyond strategy and doctrine, Lt. Gen. Olatubosun placed soldiers’ welfare at the center of his administration, promising improved accommodation, better salaries, and regular training. He underscored that motivated soldiers are the backbone of any successful military operation.
“There can be no officers without soldiers,” he stated. “It’s soldiers first, and my priority is to make things better for you so that you can give your best to secure the country.”
