Tragedy Strikes Ondo State as SSG Oluwatuyi Succumbs to Injuries from Auto Crash

In a heartbreaking turn of events, Ondo State has been thrown into mourning following the death of its Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi, who passed away after complications from an auto crash.

The fatal incident occurred on Sunday, December 15, 2024, while Oluwatuyi was traveling from Akure, the Ondo State capital, to Ibadan, Oyo State. Despite being rushed to a hospital and receiving intensive medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries on January 4, 2025.

The announcement of his passing was made by the Commissioner for Information, Wale Akinlosotu, who described the late Oluwatuyi as a pillar of dedication and service to Ondo State.

“It is with profound sadness that the Government of Ondo State announces the passing of Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi,” Akinlosotu stated. “He was a dedicated public servant whose impact on administrative coordination and policy implementation was monumental.”

Oluwatuyi’s political journey spanned decades, having served as Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Commissioner, and twice as SSG. His leadership and unwavering commitment to governance made him a highly respected figure in the state.

Reflecting on his legacy, the government praised Oluwatuyi’s pivotal role in advancing developmental policies and fostering administrative efficiency in the state.

“He was more than a public servant; he was a visionary leader whose contributions will continue to resonate for years to come,” Akinlosotu added.

Residents of Akure and political associates have expressed shock and sadness over his sudden demise. Many described him as approachable, humble, and highly impactful in both politics and community development.

An Akure-based community leader, Chief Adebayo Alade, said:
“Oluwatuyi’s death is a huge blow. He was a rare breed who prioritized the welfare of his people. His contributions to Akure South and Ondo State as a whole cannot be overstated.”

The Ondo State Government has pledged to release details of funeral arrangements in the coming days while urging residents to keep the Oluwatuyi family in their prayers.
