The Standup Women Society (SWS) has recognized Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, with an award for his exceptional leadership in addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and promoting women’s inclusion in governance. The award was presented to the governor at the Dutse Government House, in acknowledgment of his administration’s efforts to improve the social and economic standing of women.
Barr. Mrs. Deborah Ijadele-Adetona, the International President of SWS, who was represented by the association’s Administrative Officer, Timinepere Jombo Idoko, explained that the award followed a comprehensive review of the governor’s policies. This evaluation, conducted during the SWS International Conference in Owerri, Imo State, confirmed that his administration’s work on women’s empowerment, combating GBV, and appointing women to key positions in government earned him the honor.
Idoko lauded Governor Namadi for his initiatives that have helped many women rise above societal barriers, become economically empowered, and take on leadership roles. She also praised his unwavering commitment to gender equity and the inclusion of women in decision-making processes. “Governor Namadi’s positive impact on the lives of women and girls has been evident, and any organization dedicated to the welfare of women cannot overlook
