Chairman of the Kogi State House of Assembly Committee on Security, Vigilante, and Home Affairs, Hon. Major Enefola has expressed confidence that the 2025 Budget proposed by the Executive will adequately address the state’s security challenges.

Speaking during the ongoing 2025 Budget Defense by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) on the floor of the House on Wednesday in Lokoja, Enefola (APC-Igalamela-Odolu) described the Budget Defense as a crucial legislative duty. He said the allocations for the Security and Vigilante sectors were sufficient to meet their demands.

The Committee Chairman emphasized that the Budget Defense was part of the Assembly’s constitutional responsibility, aimed not at finding faults or apportioning blame but at ensuring that MDAs’ allocations align with their intended expenditures.

Enefola assured security agencies, vigilance groups, and relevant departments that the exercise was designed to empower them to fulfill their mandates and drive development that would strengthen security across the state.

Citing the recent kidnapping of students at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Enefola stressed the urgency of energizing the state’s security sector. He credited Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his swift intervention, which ensured the successful rescue of the students with minimal casualties.

The lawmaker called on the State Security Trust Fund (STF), security agencies, and related departments to intensify efforts in securing every part of the state. He commended the House Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Comfort Nwuchiola Egwaba, and other members for their commitment to making the Security Sector Budget Defense a success, adding, “Security remains our top priority for excellence.”

Enefola urged citizens to support security agencies in their fight against crime, noting that Kogi State’s reputation for peace must be preserved.

He also commended the State Government for its provision of operational vehicles, motorcycles, and other logistics to enhance the performance of security agencies.
