The Edo State Government’s Vehicle Recovery Committee has made further progress in its mission to retrieve official vehicles from former government officials. Kelly Okungbowa, Chairman of the committee, disclosed that more vehicles have been recovered, thanks to information provided by whistleblowers.

Among the notable recoveries, four vehicles were retrieved from the residence of former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last gubernatorial election Osarodion Ogie.
Another vehicle was recovered from an unidentified individual, bringing the total count to five recent recoveries.

Okungbowa highlighted the role of public cooperation, stating, “We have recovered two Land Cruiser Jeeps and two Toyota Hilux vehicles from the former SSG, with campaign materials such as posters and umbrellas found inside.
An additional Hilux was also seized, making a total of five vehicles in this batch. So far, we have recovered 30 vehicles since the operation began.”

He emphasized that the committee’s efforts are ongoing, with a two-week deadline to conclude its operations. “We appeal to the public for more information to help us recover additional vehicles. Whistleblowers will be rewarded for any leads that result in successful recoveries,” Okungbowa added.

The chairman also noted that the committee is prepared to travel across the country to reclaim state-owned vehicles wherever they may be located, reinforcing the government’s commitment to accountability and asset recovery.
