The Rano Local Government Legislative Council has formally dissociated itself from recent remarks by Hon. Kabiru Alasan Rurum, the federal representative for Rano/Kibiya/Bunkure, following his controversial statements against the NNPP Kwankwasiyya movement.
This was contained in a statement by Zonal Information Officer, Rano Local Government Rabiu Khalil Kura which was made available to the National Update on Tuesday.
According to the statement during a legislative session on Monday, Hon. Lawan Usaini raised an urgent motion addressing Rurum’s comments, urging the Council to take a stand.
The motion also highlighted concerns over Rurum’s condemnation of NNPP Kwankwasiyya .
The motion, which received unanimous backing, called on Rurum to focus on supporting the state’s leadership in addressing pressing local challenges, including economic issues and policies impacting Kano State.

House Leader Rt. Hon. Ahmad Abdullahi Jibrin declared that Rurum’s opinions do not reflect the stance of Rano’s residents or NNPP allies in the area. Emphasizing loyalty to Eng. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Council reinforced its dedication to unity, progress, and the well-being of Kano State’s citizens.
The Council’s position is a clear message of unity and commitment to the development and progress of Kano State.
