**Commends President Tinubu’s directive to release the minors
The senator representing Niger East in the National Assembly, Sani Musa has taken a critical stance against the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and police prosecutors, accusing them of mishandling the minors detained following the #EndBadGovernance protests.
He voiced disappointment over what he described as “senseless conduct” that neglected the principles of child welfare and fairness, warning that it erodes public confidence in law enforcement.
This was just as he praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to release minors detained following the #EndBadGovernance protests, describing the order as a compassionate and just decision. He commended the President’s action as a step toward justice, saying it provides relief for affected families and demonstrates a commitment to upholding the rights of young Nigerians.
“This move by President Tinubu shows true leadership and respect for justice and humanity,” Senator Musa said. “It reassures the public that the rights of minors matter and must be safeguarded.”
continuing however, he said,
“I am disappointed by the actions of the Inspector General of Police and the involved police prosecutors,” Musa stated. “Their conduct disregards justice and the rights of minors. A thorough investigation should be conducted to ensure those responsible are held accountable.”
Senator Musa called on law enforcement and other stakeholders to prioritize the protection of children’s rights, emphasizing that such incidents must not be repeated. “This situation should remind us all that the rights of minors must be respected and upheld at all times,” he concluded.
