The situation involving Jigawa State Commissioner Hon. Auwal Danladi Sankara has taken a new turn, with a Hisba official dismissing the validity of the video and audio recordings that allegedly link him to an affair with a married woman in Kano.
Malam Aliyu Usman, the Hisbah Commander for the Yankaba area, has publicly rejected the authenticity of the claims circulating on social media. He explained that his team investigated a complaint from the woman’s husband, leading them to discover the woman in a car while Hon. Sankara was seen walking towards the house with a gateman.
“I’m a junior officer and do not have the authority to disclose information to the media. All reports go through my superior, Malam Mujahid. I’m uncertain about the origins of the audio clip attributed to me,” Usman stated.
The woman’s attorney, Barrister Rabiu Shuaibu Abdullahi, confirmed that the case is currently before the court, where his client is a co-defendant. The court has ordered an investigation by the Inspector General of Police, which the legal team supports.
Barrister Abdullahi also revealed that the couple has faced ongoing domestic issues, citing incidents where the husband threatened his wife with a gun during disputes. “My client runs a well-known restaurant at Lamido Crescent, but due to the turmoil in her marriage, her husband has been monitoring her movements,” he noted.
The case is under investigation by the Kano State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), while Hon. Auwal Danladi Sankara remains determined to clear his name and restore his family’s reputation.
