***Says Kogi people had kept faith with APC
By Friday Idachaba, Lokoja
Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf has congratulated newly elected chairmen of the 21 Local Government Areas of the state over their electoral victory at the Local Government Councils election held on Saturday.
Speaker Yusuf who stated this in a press statement signed and made available to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed on Sunday in Lokoja expressed delight that the people kept faith with the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC).
The Speaker attributed the faith in the party to the good governance being provided by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration.
Yusuf said he had no doubt and neither entertained any fears that the party would win in a landslide manner as demonstrated in the final results just announced by the SIEC Chairman, Mr Mamman Nda Eri.
He said that the party’s leadership did not leave anything to chance as it ensured aggressive campaigns in the run-up to the polls.
The Speaker revealed that the APC was enjoying massive appeal owing to the fact that from inauguration of the current government, the welfare of the people, particularly the civil servants and rural dwellers had topped the agenda of Governor Ododo.
With the election of the Chairmen, the Speaker said a new page for sustained grassroots development in Kogi State had opened adding that it would bring all round improvement in infrastructure and welfare of the masses.
He further applauded Governor Ododo for ensuring a level playing field for all stakeholders in the election, noting that it has created a new phase in Local Government Administration for the state.
He also used the opportunity to applaud KOSIEC, Mr Eri, for his “bravery” and commitment to ensuring the votes of the people counted as seen in the transparency, fair and credible nature of the election.
The Speaker also charged the newly elected Chairmen and councillors to ensure good governance in their various Local Government Areas and Wards for improved welfare for the entire state. (Ends)
