The Senate on Thursday confirmed the appointment of Mrs. Olukemi Victoria Iyantan as a Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC), representing Ondo State.

The confirmation followed the recommendation from the Senate Committee on National Identity Card and National Population, chaired by Senator Abdul Ningi (PDP, Bauchi Central).
Presenting the committee’s report, Senator Ningi highlighted Mrs. Iyantan’s qualifications and her extensive public service record, affirming that she was well-suited for the role.

After a clause-by-clause review, the Senate confirmed Iyantan’s appointment. Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, who presided over the session, congratulated Mrs. Iyantan and encouraged her to work closely with other NPC commissioners and the Chairman to drive the commission’s progress.

Mrs. Iyantan will now join the NPC, tasked with overseeing population data management and contributing to national planning and development.
