Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi has announced that the state’s Tsangaya Schools Law will soon be signed into law, aimed at redesigning the Almajiri education system to integrate western education

The governor made this known in a speech delivered during the graduation ceremony of 905 students who had memorized the Holy Quran, organized by the Sheikh Jafar Mahmud Adam Foundation at the Malam Aminu Kano Triangle in Dutse, the state capital.

Representing the governor, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, the Secretary to the State Government, explained that the executive bill has already been passed by the State Assembly and will soon be signed into law.

“Education is one of the 12-point agenda of the Malam Umar Namadi-led administration. Since the inception of this government, significant achievements have been made in the education sector, including Islamic education,” Bala Ibrahim stated.
“In line with Governor Namadi’s efforts to enhance Islamic education and promote Quranic recitation among young people, the Tsangaya Education Bill has been passed into law.
“The law aims to modernize Tsangaya schools by introducing western education, with certificates awarded to students upon completion, in accordance with the law’s provisions.

The National Chairman of Izalatulbidi’a, Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, commended the Jigawa State Government and the Sheikh Jafar Mahmud Adam Foundation for their efforts in promoting education.
He called on parents and the government to support children in both Islamic and formal education, emphasizing that memorizing the Quran purifies the heart and positively influences behavior.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Jigawa State Council of Ulamas, Dr. Abdulkadir Sale Kazaure, noted that the Sheikh Jafar Mahmud Adam Foundation has branches across Nigeria, where students, both male and female, are taught to memorize the Holy Quran from a young age.
He proudly announced that 905 students were graduating from its centers across the country during the event.
