Niger to strengthen agriculture, industrialization ties with China – Governor Bago

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has indicated his commitment to advancing agriculture and industrialization in the state through strategic partnerships with China.

During his annual leave, Governor Bago visited Beijing as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s delegation to the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), where he explored opportunities to enhance Niger State’s economic development.

The governor visited various Chinese provinces to learn about modern agricultural techniques and technological innovations that can be applied to enhance food production in Niger State.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on print media, Aisha Wakaso, Governor Bago highlighted the importance of this trip in actualizing his administration’s agricultural revolution plans.

Governor Bago also said he met with Huawei, one of the world’s leading technology companies, to discuss potential collaborations aimed at transforming Niger State into a hub for technological innovation.
This partnership he indicated, is expected to attract investments and create job opportunities, further positioning Niger State as a key player in Nigeria’s technology and agriculture sectors.

The governor underscored the importance of fostering stronger economic ties between Nigeria and China, particularly through infrastructure projects.
One of the key collaborations discussed is with the China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) on the Nigerian Railway Modernization Project.
The project includes the construction of the Ibadan-Minna and Minna-Abuja rail lines, which are expected to significantly enhance the transportation of goods and people, boosting economic activities across Niger State.

The Gobmvernor’s engagement in the initiatives the statement said reflects his administration’s focus on securing international partnerships to drive infrastructural development and economic growth in Niger State, ultimately improving the quality of life for its residents.
