***Appeal for more women participation in sports

As the world marks this years’ international women’s day, Mrs. Marinda Ombugadu, has called on leaders in various positions to help forge a gender equal world.
Mrs. Ombugadu, wife of the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic party, PDP in the 2023 general election, made the call while hosting over five thousand women in her Akwanga white house on Friday to mark the International women’s day.
Mrs Ombugadu who laoded president Tinubu for being gender friendly in his political appointments, appealed to women to seek political offices as senators, governors and president.
While commending the women in the state for their support and sacrifices for democracy, especially in the last elections, Mrs Ombugadu charged women in the state and across the world not to give up in the push for more women inclusion in government and policy making.
“As we celebrate women all over the globe, we must isolate the Nasarawa women and celebrate them in very unique way for writing their name in gold for their fearless, dogged fight with indomitable spirit in defence of democracy.
In the same vane, the First Female Fifa Referee in Nasarawa State Miss Felicia Oble has called on the government at all levels to continue to initiate policies aimed at eliminating cultural and traditional barriers to allow more women to participate in sports.
She stated that women’s participation in sports had remained low, especially in the northern parts of the country due to societal impediments and a lack of support.
Miss Oble noted that most young girls across communities in Nigeria are endowed with various skills in sports but not adequately tapped.
