KOGI State Government on Saturday said it would announce a designate to assume the vacant stool of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland next week.

Governor Bello disclosed this at a meeting with all the seven aspirants to the throne recommended by the Kingmakers committee constituted and inaugurated to receive and scrutinize applications from eligible sons of Ebiraland to fill the vacant stool of Ohinoyi of Ebiraland.

The committee had recommended seven aspirants to the state government, from whom one would be appointed next week to ascend the throne.

The aspirants include the former Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Philip Salawu; former Clerk of the National Assembly, Barrister Ataba Sani Omolori; Gen. Yusuf Abubakar Amuda.

Others are Barr Momoh Shaibu, Prof. Ibrahim Onuwe Abdulmalik, HRH Dr Ahmad Tijani Anaje and Mr Ahmed Momohjimoh.

Governor Bello at the inauguration of the Committee had urged the aspirants to support whomever would be appointed by the government, as they were all qualified.

He cautioned them against divisive statements and actions capable of disrupting the peace of the land.

The committee of Kingmakers inaugurated on behalf of the state government by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Barr Salami Ozigi Deedat to scrutinize applications from eligible sons of Ebiraland to fill the vacant stool of the Ohinoyi.

The Committee had Friday, the 15th of December, 2023, to submit its recommendations.

It would be recalled that the seat of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland became vacant with the demise of the late Ohinoyi, Alhaji Dr Abdulrahman Ado Ibrahim who joined his ancestors after bowing to a protracted illness on October 29, 2023.

The late monarch who was the 4th Ohinoyi of Ebiraland passed on at the age of 94, with February 7, 1929 as his birthday and bequeathed a legacy of commitment to harmonious and peaceful coexistence among his people. (Ends)
