    Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Josiah Majebi has said that the era of Chief Judges of the state living in their personal homes rather than official residences has come to an end as he moves into his official residence in the state capital.

    Justice Majebi who disclosed this in a press statement on Tuesday in Lokoja also took delivery of 10 Sub Urban Vehicles (SUVs) presented to him by Governor Yahaya Bello for Judges and Kadis about to be appointed for the State Judiciary.

    The statement applauded the combined efforts of the present Chief Judge and the State Government in ensuring transformation of the Judiciary saying that they had also recovered and rehabilitated abandoned official residences of Judges.

    Majebi recalled that following the demise of the late Chief Judge of the state, Hon. Justice Nasir Ajanah in June, 2020, the official residence was abandoned until its recent renovation.

    According to him, the official residence of the Chief Judge of a State symbolizes the entire Judiciary of that state which must always be kept in a decent state in order to maintain the integrity of the Judicial Arm of Government.

    Justice Majebi, according to the statement, decried the state of the structure he met on ground saying that it wasn’t reflective of the true picture of the Judiciary.

    The Chief Judge said that in his Integrity-Restoration Drive, had to call for its immediate recovery and renovation.

    The Chief Judge commended Governor Yahaya Bello for his prompt response in providing funds for the renovation which was carried out at the lodge to enable it meet stipulated standard.

    While thanking the Governor for the vehicles, Justice Majebi also applauded him for providing furnished official residences for the new Judges to be appointed soon adding that the renovation of their courts would soon commence.

    Majebi stressed that the state was adequately prepared to boost its Bench at the High Court, Sharia and Customary Courts of Appeal levels.

    He expressed gratitude to the State Government for support from the that made it possible for the State Judiciary to meet all National Judicial Council (NJC) requirements for appointment of Judges for the state.(Ends)
