***PDP youth leader says, they are sponsored by APC to create confusion

From Daniel Abel, Lafia

Following the judgement delivered by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in favor of the PDP in the state on 2nd Octorber, 2023 some youths alleged to be under the aegis of Coalition of PDP Youths In Nasarawa State have described the majority judgement as tribal and clannish with divisive tendencies’ in Nasarawa politics.

Addressing the press on Friday in Lafia, the group led by one Daniel Agbo said that the judgement of the tribunal has religious coloration and is condemnable.

“It is worrisome, after taking a closer look at the ruling by the tribunal, we realized that merit was compromised for religious sentiments. If not, how on earth will you justify such shambolic ruling where out of three judges, two ruled in favor of PDP and one in favor of APC.

“Governor Abdullahi Sule as result had raised the alarm, telling the world how he is being threatened to be removed from office using religious sentiments. He cited the judgment of the tribunal as one of the examples among several others.

“This trend of religion and tribal dichotomy shows that we still have moral weakness, which makes it very difficult to achieve a common goal as a state.

“If not that governor Abdullahi Sule is such a kind and benevolent leader, this state would have since been plunged into an uncontrollable chaos”, the coalition alleged.

Reacting, state PDP youth leader Alhaji Mohammed Sani in a press statement said that the youth coalition who claimed that they are PDP members are youths sponsored by Governor Abdullahi Sule to perpetrate religious bigotry tendencies by inciting the public with a script that the tribunal judgement is religiously inclined.

Alhaji Sani strongly refuted the insinuations that the recent press conference held by the Coalition of PDP Youths was a product of PDP.

“We want to make it clear that the PDP in Nasarawa State fully supports the tribunal’s verdict that resulted in the removal of Governor Abdullahi Sule.

“The facts and merits of the case, as ruled by the tribunal, are indisputable, and we maintain our unwavering confidence in the integrity of the tribunal’s decision.

“The PDP would never condemn itself or seek to detract from a ruling that upholds justice and the rule of law.

“It has come to our attention that the incumbent administration in Nasarawa State has been involved in sponsoring groups that are not affiliated with the PDP. We wish to emphasize that the PDP is a well-organized party, and any official conference or statement would be communicated through proper channels.

“It is the shameful religious statement of the state governor, Abdullahi Sule at the recent Summit held in Abuja that is dividing the people along religious lines and not from the PDP. And that is why they are sponsoring this boys to further disseminate their claims.

“We urge the people of Nasarawa State to reject the claims made by the Coalition of PDP Youths, as they are baseless and without merit. The PDP categorically denies any involvement in the said press conference, and we reaffirm our commitment to respecting the tribunal’s ruling and standing firmly behind the merits of the case.

The PDP in Nasarawa State remains resolute in its pursuit of justice, transparency, and the well-being of our constituents. We appreciate the support of the people and will continue to work tirelessly in their best interests.

The youth wing of the PDP said they were aware of when some of the boys were called upon by some APC members and where they took them to write the press statement for them to come and read.
