IDPs Farmers Association pleads with gov Sule to return them to their ancestral homes

Internally Displaced Persons, (IDPs) Association under the auspices of the United Farmers’ Association Kadarko, in Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, has appealed to governor Abdullahi Sule to urgently return them to their ancestral homes.

The association also begged the governor to protect their lands and properties against invasion by some land grabbers and impostors.

The Association made the appeal in a statement signed by Dennis Denen Utsa, chairman and the secretary of the association Ayuba Thomas Bako, a copy of which was made available the National Update.

The Association said that the appealed has become imperative considering the unbearable situation they have found themselves in the area.

The chairman of the association in the statement explained that the recent distribution of palliatives in Keana, and Obi local government area which were meant for poor citizens in the state; over 9,000 internal displaced Persons were left out in the process.

According to the statement,” In order to reduce the hardship being faced, we secured building for the IDPs within Kadarko and it’s environs but the said terrorist gangs have invaded all their communities and even traced one of the IDPs home located at Sarkin-Noma and burnt down the properties including farm produce worth over Ten million naira in the attacked.

“We call on the state and federal government to beef up security around the farming communities, and some of the killer herders from invading our farmlands. The government should provide relief assistant to the IDPs in order to ease their suffering,” the statement read.

The association further called on the government to rebuild the houses of the vulnerable IDPs and provide them with basic social amenities.
