Agric minister says Tinubu’s promise to turn around the agric sector through rubust programs is on course
The Minister of state for Agriculture and food security, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi has urged Nigerians to Support President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s agricultural transformation and food security programme as the president is doing everything possible to ensure he delivered to Nigerians his agenda for agricultural transformation and food security.
The Minister who spoke in Minna, the Niger state capital during a grand reception organized by the Niger state government for all elected officers, political appointees and other stakeholders in the state, also appealed to Nigerians to join hands with the administration to bring back the dignity of the people, stressing that “the administration will do justice to his agricultural transformation agenda to guarantee food security in the country.
Senator Aliyu Sabi pointed out that the President has set agenda for the restoration of genuine democracy in Nigeria, adding that what is needed from all Nigerians is to keep faith the administration for the actualization of all the restoration agenda.
He said that it was a deliberate decision by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to have picked both the senior and junior Ministers for agriculture and food security from Borno and Niger states respectively, the two largest states in Nigeria in term of landmark because of his commitment to agricultural revolution.
Though he admitted that the two states are bedeviled by one form of insecurity or the other with serious consequences on farming activities in the areas, the ongoing onslaught against these criminals by the Nigerian Military and other security Agencies will bring the current situation under control to pave way for farming activities.
According to him, “Niger state is expected to play a critical role in this agricultural transformation of Mr. President because of its landmass.
“The state can not afford to be left behind; the Federal Ministry of agriculture will do everything possible to assist the state towards the realization of the set objectives of the government in agriculture.
Earlier, the Niger state governor, Rt. Hon. Umar Mohammed Bago said his administration will partner with the Federal Government in all areas of development in its quest to build a new Niger state, stressing that “this is the time to work in other to realize the new Niger state of our dream, that is why must always come together to discuss how to build a new Niger state”.
He assured the Minister that Niger state will key into the agricultural transformation of the President, adding that already the state government has directed all the 25 local government councils in the state to cultivate at least 10,000 hectares of land each for next year farming season.
