Group Holds Public Policy Dialogue to address manpower challenges in JIgawa

Worried by the wide gap in the JIgawa state civil service especially in the area of inadequate manpower in the health and the education sector, a pressure group known as “NEXT JiGAWA” has organized a Public Policy Dialogue with the aim of addressing the challenges.

The dialogue which was organized by the group in collaboration with PERL ECP an international donor organization is aimed at providing solution to the shortage of manpower in hospitals and schools in both primary and secondary levels.

Speaking during the dialogue, the State Team Leader PERL ECP comrade Isah Surajo highlighted the urgent need of human resources to save the civil service from collapse in Jigawa.

He explained that, the gap if not urgently addressed may affect all sectors of governance, adding that the state is blessed with a large number of brilliant persons ready to fill the gap.

Former Jigawa head of civil services, Alhaji Inuwa Tahir highlight the challenges of human resources as well as the solution to the challenges.

He identified recruitment of new staff, re-introduction of special training programs, ICT training, special engagement of retired senior staff and prioritization of funding for graduate employment as better solution to the challenges.

While responding, the state governor Alhaji Umar Namadi who was represented by his Principal officer, Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Garun Gabas said, the present administration is committed to addressing the human resource challenges in the state.

According to him, thrle governor has already set up a committee to go through the challenges and design a solution for better future of the state.

He commended the partners for their concerns on human resource gaps, urging all stakeholders to support the present administration’s dreams of making Jigawa giant in strength.

The dialogue was attended by government officials, traditional leaders and other stakeholders.
