Press Week: Imam urges journalists to remain undaunted in holding govt accountable

Imam Ayyub Abdulganiyu, Chief Imam of Kogi Ministry of Education Mosque, Lokoja has charged Journalists to be diligent and professional in discharge of their duties but remain undaunted in holding government accountable to the people.
Imam Abdulganiyu gave the charge while leading a special prayer session for the commencement of the Kogi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), 2023 Press Week on Friday in Lokoja.
The Imam acknowledged the numerous challenges being encountered by journalists in the discharge of their duties but urged them to remain courageous and undaunted.
He prayed Allah to continue to protect members of the NUJ and ease their duties in the discharge of their constitutional roles.
Imam Abdulganiyu used the occasion to call on well to do individuals to always extend hands of fellowship to their neighbours and other citizens who are in need.
In an interview with newsmen shortly after the prayers, chairman of Kogi Council of the NUJ, Comrade Adeiza Momoh-Jimoh said the prayer session provided an opportunity to appreciate Allah for his mercies in the forgoing year.
He said that the special Juma’at prayer session for the 2023 Press Week was also aimed at committing the activities for the week onto God’s hands for guidance and protection.
Momoh-Jimoh said activities lined up for the Union’s Press Week include the Special Juma’at prayer session, Special Church Service on Sunday, and a roadwalk.
He said that the Grand Finale schedule for Wednesday is expected to feature the launch of a book, “Media Development in Kogi State 1991-2023” and award presentation to deserving individuals. (Ends)
