Kogi State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has completed arrangement to launch a 324-page book on Media Development in Kogi State for use of Journalists, media researchers and Communications students.

Chairman of the Council, Comrade Adeiza Momoh-Jimoh disclosed this on Tuesday at a press conference heralding the NUJ 2023 Press Week/Public presentation of the book in Lokoja.

He said that the book, “Media Development in Kogi State 1991-2023”, was essentially put together to give an overview of how the media industry has fared in Kogi State since its creation.

“The 324-page book will be most useful to Communication students in the tertiary institutions and it will as well be very useful to Journalists, media researchers and the reading public.

Momoh-Jimoh said that the Press Conference was equally called to announce preparations towards the holding of the 2023 NUJ Press Week.

He said that the Press Week would be the last lap of such exercises in the life of the current administration of the Council led by comrade Adeiza Momoh-Jimoh.

The Chairman said that following meetings with the Executive Council Members and the Congress of the Union, an abridged form of the year 2023 Press Week would commence with Muslim Prayers on Friday, 11th August.

He said that Christian prayers would be held on Sunday, 13th August adding that it would be followed with road walk exercise on Monday 14th August while the Grand Finale is scheduled for Wednesday, August 16th.

“The decision of the Council to hold the Press Week in an abridged form is basically due to current harsh economic realities of the country”, he said.

Momoh-Jimoh revealed that Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello would be the Distinguished Guest of honour at the occasion while the dynamic Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Associate Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman will chair the occasion.

According to him, Chief Host of the occasion is the National President of NUJ, Chief Chris Isiguzo while the state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Kingsley Fanwo will serve as co-host.

The Council enjoined all friends of the media in the state and beyond and the general public to attend the epoch-making occasion.

Momoh-Jimoh revealed that as in the culture of the union to encourage individuals who are impacting positively on their various communities and people, the Council has carefully sclected six notable Kogites for the Union’s awards. (Ends)
