Tinubu’s Ministerial List: Akpabio unveils designates, as Oyetola, Ayade fail to make list

The Senate on Thursday finally announced the ministerial list after so much suspense,  with speculations taking over the media space.
While Nigerians waited with bathed breath for the list of ministers on Thursday, the Senate resumed plenary almost at 12.30 and went into executive session for about half an hour.
Against the speculation by some media platforms, former Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola and former Ben Ayade were conspicuously missing on the list
However former Governors Nasiru El Rufai, Nyeson Wike, Dave Umahi, Abubakar Badaru made the list.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio unveiled the names at plenary on Thursday after the Senate leader had moved a motion on the point of order 1(b) and (a) of the senates rule book.

Quoting the orders he said

“1(a) the proceeding in the Senate and in all committees of the senate shall be conducted in in accordance with the following standing orders

“Order 1(b) said in all cases not provided for in this standing order of sessional or other orders of the senate, the Senate shall by resolution regulate its procedure and then the second order is Order 12 (1)  which says no person shall be admitted to the lobby of the floor of the senate while in session except in forum and only by the consent of the senate.

He said he was not pleading for a suspension of “any of our rules rather I am moving for an invocation of a standing order and that is specifically order 12(1)I, which qualifies a former speaker and former deputy speakers of the House of Representatives to be admitted into the chamber with the consent of the senate. 
The Senate President sustained the point of Orders and asked the leader to proceed to move the motion.
The Senate leader them moved for his Excellency former speaker of the House of representatives Honorable Femi Gbajabiamila who is currently the Chief of staff to the President and Commander in chief to be admitted to the chamber to deliver a very crucial message from the President to the President of the senate adding that the message is the ministerial list. 
The Minority leader Senator Simon Mwadkwon Seconded the motion that the senate do allow the Chief of staff to the President of Nigeria access to the chaber to present the message from the President.
Akpabio said,

“The leader of the Senate had moved a motion in line with rule 12i of our standing order that this hallowed chamber do allow the former speaker of the House of Representatives and chief of staff to the President to have entry into the session and this has been seconded by the minority leader. 

“I am pleased to announce to Nigerians that the President has sent the ministerial list.”
