LP sends message of sympathy to Comrade Joe Ajero over razed Lagos home
The leadership of the Labour Party (LP) sympathized with the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC) Comrade Joe Ajaero over the fire incident that completely razed his Lagos residence.
National Chairman of the party Barrister Julius Abure in a statement urged the government to carry out a proper investigation on the incident with a genuine mindset to finding out the cause of the mystery fire which happened at a time Comrade Ajaero was attending a conference outside the country in the service of fatherland.
“We are however happy that no life was lost from that inferno as members of his family were said to be at home at the time of the unfortunate incidence.
“While the Labour Party will not be in a hurry to pass blame pending the outcome of the investigation, we however, ask that the government agency entrusted with the assignment of preventing or mitigating such destructive occurrence, in this case, the Fire Service to be encouraged to live up to its duties.
“Prompt response to fire incidences can save life, properties and prevent pains associated with such loss.
“Comrade Ajaero who assumed office as the NLC president is known for a life of “struggle” for the good of Nigerian workers and not known for wealth grabbing. His life savings as result of his several years in the public service which must have been invested in putting up a modest shelter for his family can not just go up in flames.
“We therefore call on the People’s General to take the loss with equanimity and must not be discouraged. Be guided by the struggle motto of “Aluta Continua’. Forward ever, Backward Never.
