Basirka town residents demand justice over killing of volunteer NSCDC personnel
Residents of Basirka town in Gwram local government area have called for justice for Risilanu Ibrahim who was killed by a hunter mobilized to entertain the Emir of Dutse Hammeem Nuhu Sanusi.
Sanusi who was on a familiarization tour of the emirate visited Basirka but his visit has left the people with a sad memory following the death of the volunteer personal of the Nigerian Security and Civil defence Corps (NSCDC) Gwaram Division.
Late Ibrahim was said to be assisting the security personnel deployed to control crowds during the familarization visit of the new Emir of Dutse Hameem Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi to the town.
It was gathered that the victim was allegedly killed accidentally by one of the palace guards mobilized to escort the Emir to the area during a gun salute display to entertain the august visitor and spectators alike.
The incident which happened in a swift manner made it impossible for the identify of the killer on the spot whom they said had disappeared in the midst of the crowd.
Though, the victim did not die on the spot, he succumbed to the cold hands of death after he was reportedly taken to the nearby hospital for emergency medication.
For now, some residents in the area are said to be unhappy with the incident especially the silence of the Dutse Emirate on the matter.
There are indications that the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the state has asked the emirate to identify and produce the killer for questioning and possible prosecution over the offence.
The people of the area are also asking for justice for the slain Jigawa man by hunters attached to the Emir of Dutse.
