Second Term House of Representatives member-elect for Yagba Federal Constituency and candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi State has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to ensure a level playing field for all contending parties in the governorship election slated for November 11, this year in the state.

Abejide who picked ADC governorship ticket at the April Governorship primaries of the ADC, barely two months after he won the House of Representatives election in Yagba federal Constituency for a second term, said only the intervention of President Tinubu could ensure a rancour free and fair election in the state giving experiences of intolerance and violence recorded during past elections in the state.

Noting that he supported Tinubu)Shetima presidential bid before and during the February presidential election and while he described President Tinubu as a father figure, Abejide said his wish was not to for the president to abandon his party (APC) to back his (Abejide’s) governorship aspiration on a rival party platform. He however apoealed to the president to allow for a level playing field for all the candidates participating in the election in line with the tenets of global standard democratic practice.

“I am not just a fan of Tinubu. He is my father. Apart from Rt Hon James Faleke, no one gave Asiwaju Tinubu more support during his presidential election campaign in Kogi State more than I did.
“Nevertheless, I cannot expect our president, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to leave his party to support me. I can only plead with the president to provide a level playing field for all of us candidates and let the best candidate emerge according to the choice of Kogi electorate”, he said
