PDP Coalition tackles Imo decampee Lawmakers, demands Campaign Funds Probe

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Group, under the aegis of PDP’s South-East Coalition, has described as unfortunate the decamping of three members of the House of Representatives from Imo State, describing them as lacking in electoral value and scruples.

The lawmakers dumped the PDP for the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) with over 3,000 supporters and were received by Governor Hope Uzodinma at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square, Owerri, the state capital on Monday.

In a statement in Abuja on Monday, spokesperson of the group, Emeka Obi, urged the federal lawmakers to account for the large sums of campaign funds they received from the PDP Presidential Campaign Council for Imo State.

“These lawmakers have no electoral value and scruples. If they had any, they won’t be jumping ship after running and losing out in the just concluded National Assembly elections.

“These are individuals that collected large campaign funds from the PDP Presidential Campaign Council and have been unable to explain how the funds were expended. If you look at their electoral value carefully, you will see that they have none. People who couldn’t win elections for themselves are jumping all over the place and making a mockery of themselves,” the statement reads.

Obi further called on the leadership of the party to continue the rebuilding process, especially as the off-season election cycle for Imo and Kogi states is around the corner.

“Our great party should continue the rebuilding process and ensure that we triumph in Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi states governorship elections as the party has credible candidates in Governor Douye Diri, Senators Samuel Anyanwu and Dino Melaye to win the polls.”

The former members of the party who decamped are Ikenna Elezieanya, Bede Ekeh, Hon. Henry Nwawuba.
