Kano State Deputy Governor and) Guber candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasir Yusuf Gawuna has exhibited an uncommon sportsmanship spirit as he has congratulated the Kano State Governor-elect, Abba Kabir Yusuf (popularly known as Abba Gida-Gida) of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).In a short recorded audio, circulated by his media team, Gawuna thanked the good people of Kano for coming out en masse to vote for him and his party, the APC, in the gubernatorial election

According to him,

“You are all aware that we took our complaints to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on various problems on the recently concluded guber election in Kano and we requested INEC review results of some units, and further requested a rerun of election in some of these problematic units.

“But despite our complains, today 29th March, INEC went ahead to present Certificate of Return to the announced winner, Abba Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP. On this note, we wish to revert to our earlier promises of accepting Allah’s will on this election.

“Therefore, I wish Abba Kabir the very best in governance and I pray he finds the will to be fair and objective to all, and may Allah give us the patience to bear this. God Bless Kano state and God bless Nigeria”, he concluded.

The Kano Governor-elect had earlier called on Gawuna to accept Allah’s will and join him in restoring the good fortunes of the state.

Yusuf, had made the statement during his speech after receiving his certificate of return.
He had also called out to other contestants in the March 18 guber election to join his administration for the development and progress of Kano state.

According to the governor-elect, his election is a “no victor, no vanquished”, adding that, “We heard Gawuna telling the media before the results was announced that if he does not emerge winner, he will accept the decision as the will of Allah. So we are calling on him to come out now and address the people to confirm this as the will of Allah”.

He also appealed to his rivals to take a hint from the leader of the NNPP, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, whom he said despite being an incumbent in 2003 and was defeated did not hesitate to congratulate the declared winner and prepared a smooth transition.
