The Miss Parliament International Board (MPIB) has announced its plans to organize the 1st edition of the Miss Parliament Nigeria Beauty Pageant (MPBP) between November 2nd and 9th, 2023.

The event with the theme “Turning Beauty into success” will be held at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.”

The event, which was initiated and founded by the Precious Enebuse led MPI in 2022, with the inaugural edition proposed to be held at the National Women Centre, Abuja, was shifted to this year 2023 due to security challenges and other perennial problems bedeviling the nation including flood disaster that ravaged many parts of the country in 2022.

The MPI Chief Executive had previously explained that the showcase of upcoming project is intended to give Nigerian female youths the opportunity to participate and exhibit their talents, thus empowering them to become self reliant.

The goal he added is also to inform, educate, and sensitize the youths on legislative processes, principles, and responsibilities as well as create new messaging lines that would reduce tension.
According to him, it is also aimed at repositioning Nigeria as Africa’s investment destination thereby winning back fleeing investors and development partners.

He further reiterated that the project will serve as a reliable platform for bringing the parliamentarians and their constituents together, particularly the youths, to chart a new course for our dear nation irrespective of their political ideologies or party differences.

According to Enebuse, MPBP exudes class, responsibility, excellence, patriotism and influence as well as advocates and showcases Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, good moral behaviours, beauty and brain within an atmosphere devoid of indecent dressing, sexual harassment and other forms of immorality that are prevalent in the society that has made it almost unattractive for the morally upright individuals to take part in beauty pageantries, he said.

The event promises to be impactful as the initiative would focus on empowering both undergraduate and graduate females in Nigeria and in other countries, whose ages range from 18 to 30, to work towards a more promising future for themselves, their families, and their communities in line with the United Nations’ Global Goals for Women and Girls, he said.

The event will be attended by both individuals, personalities, government, and private organisations, which would come from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT

The event will begin with registration of contestants from the 3rd of January until September 31st
The event will close with a grand finale.

The preliminary selections will commence October 19 – 26th, at the headquarters of the six geopolitical zones.

While Lagos remains a powerhouse for the industry, Oseghale emphasized that social media and growing regional markets have made it possible for stars to be discovered and thrive in cities like Benin, Warri, and Abuja.

With major upcoming events like King Zina set for January, 16: Xisten Events is leading the charge for a nationwide entertainment revolution.

He said the industry must be diversified to promote excellence and professionalism to satisfy the entertainment needs of millions of Nigerians living in different regions.

According to him, the large population of Nigeria is of immense advantage to anybody to benefit from in any business venture hence the notion of moving to Lagos as surest way to become a star is not totally correct.

While applauding the role Lagos plays in the growth and development of different sectors of the entertainment industry like music, movies, comedy, dance, event manage, among others, he pointed out that stars over the years have been discovered in other parts of the country.

The 16: Xisten CEO, who said the world has become a global village with the emergence of various social media platforms insisted that “such insinuations are no longer entirely true but just a figment of the imaginations of a few naysayers”.

“As the sky is wide enough to contain the millions of birds, so is the industry wide enough to contain practitioners irrespective of the location they play in”.

“Our population is one of our biggest strengths as a nation and if we can explore the huge market inherent, then we will know that with the right strategy, we can thrive in Kano, Kaduna, Maiduguri, Lokoja, Benin, Owerri, Oshogo or Illorin”.

The young entrepreneur, who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology from the Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma and a Master Degree in Environmental Toxicology from the University of Benin, maintained that all the shows he has produced in Benin, Abuja, Warri and other cities are testaments that a true professional can blossom anywhere.

According to him, “I just produced a massively successful event Edwardo Untamed on October 1st which is an annual show held in Benin City. “That event also made its debut in Abuja in February this year and we are working assiduously to replicate the second edition in Abuja in 2025”.

“Most of the shows we have produced as thoroughbred professionals is testament that entertainment can break boundaries anywhere”.
