    Finally, INEC declares LP’s Alex Otti winner of Abia guber poll

    At last, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Labour Party’s candidate, Alex Otti, winner of the Abia State governorship election after the eventual declaration, on Wednesday, of the results of the controversial Obingwa Local Government Area results.INEC waded into the controversy surrounding inflated figures in Obingwa to the tune of 86000 for the gubernatorial poll while accredited voters were less than 30, 000 as reflected by results of the winner of the House of Assembly in the same election conducted simulteneously.With the conclusion of the collation of the outstanding results of the election, the Peoples Democratic Party scored 9,962 votes, while the Labour Party, 3,776 votes in the LGA.

    Consequently, the LP won in 10 LGAs, the PDP in six LGAs, and the Young Progressives Party in one LGA.

    The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Abia State, Chief Alex Otti, was, eventually declared winner of the 2023 governorship election in Abia State.

    Otti polled a total of 172,386 to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the PDP who scored 88,174.

    The Returning Officer, Prof. Nnenna Oti, declared the LP candidate the winner at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Umuahia, the state capital, Wednesday afternoon after completing the suspended collation of results.
