Gov Bala Mohammed trounces Saddique Abubakar in Bauchi guber polls

Governor Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been declared winner of the Saturday, March 18, 2023 governorship election in Bauchi State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)

Senator Mohammed scored a total of 525,280 votes to beat the APC candidate, Saddique Abubakar, who scored a total of 432,272 votes.

While declaring the results from the 20 Local Government Areas of the state, INEC said that the PDP and its governorship candidate, Bala Mohammed won in 15 LGAs while the APC and its candidate, Saddique Abubakar won in five Councils.

The results were declared on Monday by the INEC Governorship Election Coalitions and Returning Officer, Prof Abdukarim Sabo Mohammed, who is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa state.

Prof Sabo Mohammed said the total number of registered voters in the state is 2,749,268 while the number of accredited voters for the 2023 gubernatorial elections was 1, 058, 381, total valid votes, 1034379, rejected votes, 15222 and the total votes cast 1049600.

He declared; “By the powers on confer on me by the Electoral Act and as the Chief Collation and Retuning officer of the 2023 Gubernatorial elections in Bauchi state, I, Prof Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed, hereby declare that Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, having scored the highest number of votes cast is hereby declared elected”.

Most of the representatives of participating political parties at the INEC Collation Centre commended the electoral body and security agents for the smooth conduct of the elections.
