Friends of Police advocate unity, peace ahead of elections

A non-governmental Organization under the aegis of Friends of Police have advocated for continuous peace and unity among the various communities in Nigeria for a successful gubernatorial and State House of Assembly election on March 18, 2023.
Chairman of the group Mr Ibrahim Babayo, gave the indication at a press briefing held in Keffi local government area of the state on Tuesday.
The 2023 Governorship and House of Assembly general elections earlier scheduled for March 11 is now billed to take place on the March 18th, 2023 across the country.
Babayo lauded the efforts of all critical stakeholders in ensuring a peaceful electoral process during the presidential and national assembly Elections held on February 25th.
He called on all communities in Nasarawa state and the country at large to continue to promote unity and peace in their respective localities so as to ensure that the Governorship and House of Assembly elections also record resounding success.
“This important call is aimed at encouraging national unity and harmonious relationship among the nation’s citizenry.
“To this end, Friends of Police will continue with the voluntary services at the next gubernatorial election to support the good works of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies.
“In addition, a one day training workshop for ward coordinators and polling unit agents will be conducted for all interested participants”Babayo said.
He maintained that during the last presidential and national assembly elections on the 25th February, 2023, friends of Police provided services that included crime reporting, election supervision and crowd control.
Babayo also expressed delight that the youths turned out in their numbers at the last presidential election saying it was remarkable, peaceful and orderly.
