Saminu Turaki, Nurudeen Muhammed lost senatorial seats in Jigawa
The former governor of Jigawa state, Ibrahim Saminu Turaki and former minister of state for foreign affairs, Dr. Nuradeen Muhammad have lost their bids to go to the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.
In the official results so far released, Turaki of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) and a former senator lost to B Hussaini Babangida, while Dr. Muhammad, also of the PDP lost to Alhaji Ahmed Abdul Hamid Malammadori.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Ahmed Baita Garko while declaring the results of the Jigawa Northwest Senatorial District, held that Hussaini of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) polled 187, 049 votes to defeat Turaki, who scored 134, 199 votes
For Jigawa Northeast Prof. Adamu Usman Izge declared Malammadori of the APC with 136, 977 winner while Dr. Muhammad of the PDP, polled 107, 457 votes.
In the House of Representatives, only three results had been officially at press time.
Dr. Hassan Abubakar Fulata of the APC polled a total of 44, 692 votes to defeat Abbas Daguro of the PDP, who scored 30 654 votes for the Kirikasama/Birniwa/Guri Federal Constituency.
However, the incumbent member representing Dutse/Kiyawa Federal Constituency, Muhammad Kyamba Modobi failed in his bid to return to the Green Chamber as he lost to Mr. Dahiru Madaki of the PDP.
Madaki of the APC, who polled 47, 836 votes to defeat Madobi, who scored 36, 718 votes.
Also in Gwaram Federal Constituency, the incumbent Yusuf Shitu Galambi of the New Nigeria People’s Party, (NNPP) with 27, 832 defeated Isa Idris Gwaram of the APC, who scored 19252.
