The 2023 general election started in Abuja on a very peaceful note with most of the polling units starting as early as 8am.

In Bwari Area Council election materials were distributed as early as between 7.30 am to 8.30 am.
At Tokulo polling unit in Igu ward which is the polling unit of the
Chairman of the Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) John Gabaya, election had started as early as 8.30 am.
Before casting his vote the chairman addressed the people on the need for them to be orderly by cooperating with the INEac officials.
He advised the people to vote for any candidate of their choice and leave the rest to God.
He said it is a day everyone had waited for for a long time and ‘Today the day has come, we are at the Tokulo Village polling unit 002, Igu ward.
“As you can see there is peace in this our polling unit and I want to assure everyone that there would not be any hiccups because I as a Council chairman has announced to the people that everyone should vote whoever he or she wishes to. Vote your conscience and them you leave. Leave the rest for the IanEac and the security officers to do the needful.
“As you can see, the arena is calm, it is our prayer and desire that God in heaven will see us through in all other polling units across the nation today.”
However at the LGA primary school in Gaba one Danladi Ilya raised the alarm that when his PVC was slotted into the BVAS machine, he was told he had already being acredited whereas he said he was just coming to be accredited.
Efforts to speak to any of the official proved abortive as they said there was nothing they could do.
Another major issue that was prevallent was the issue of people not actually getting to know their polling unit.
Many voters were stranded as they continue to shuttle around Bwari looking for their units.
In some cases they will see their name displayed but the machine will not recognize them
