By Ahmed Rufa’i, Dutse
The JIgawa state chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has refuted the claim by its former governorship candidate, Comrade Abdullahi Tsoho Garba that he decamped to ruling APC with all the party’s candidates for other positions.
The Party’s chairman, Alhaji Isyaku Aliyu while speaking to newsmen at the state’s party headquarters in Dutse, said “the claim by our former gubernatorial candidate, Comrade Abdullahi Tsoho Garba that he and our candidates for other positions decamped to APC is not true”.
Aliyu explained that “What he said is a big lie, he went on his expedition to the ruling party alone. Our party and the Obidient movement in Jigawa are intact’
He said the party structure and leadership from poling units to political wards to local government areas and the state level are intact, nobody left.
According to him “His (Tsoho Garba) defection changed nothing in our party here in JIgawa state. We are intact and we remain intact”.
“As far as the LP state executives and members of Obidient family are concerned everything is perfectly okay. All our plans and programmes have continued and we have every hope and confidence of wining elections”, Aliyu emphasized.
The chairman described the former governorship candidate’s action as a deliberate attempt to distrupt and blackmail the party for reasons best known to him. “He did not and will not succeed”.
“For your information he (former governorship candidate) was not the Labour Party members popular aspirant before becoming candidate, but he (Tsoho) lobbied the ticket through Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC)’s president, Comrade Ayuba Wabba and NLC imposed him on us”.
He noted that the party has already selected his replacement in Alhaji Suleiman Abdul’aziz accordance with the party’s constitution and 2022 electoral law.
