Lamido blames leaders who received free education for a worse state of the sector

Former Jigawa state governor Alhaji Sule Lamido has accused beneficiaries of free education of being responsible for the worsening state of the sector in the northern parts of the country today
The former governor gave the indication when he spoke at the Birninkudu Government College Old Boys Association meeting on Monday.
The immediate past Governor of Jigawa State accussed past leaders who got free education of meting injustice to the younger ones by failing to shoulder the responsibilities of giving priority attention and channeling resources to the sector from which they benefited immensely.
According to him “When we were in school, we were comfortable, we lacked nothing, school hostels were in perfect shape as the serenity of the learning environment was next to none, we were treated like Kings”.
He expressed concern about the way and manner the present leaders were handling the education sector, “With total neglect right from the basic level”.
He recalled how education and health used to be the priorities of government, followed by other projects and programmes that enhanced human development.
The guest speaker therefore challenged leaders to take a critical assessment of the education sector with a view to restructuring it to at least produce another set of great generation.
In his speech, the Jigawa state governor Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar who was represented by the secretary to the state government expressed appreciation to the association for it’s tireless effort in ensuring that they are alive and united.
Also the emir of Dutse Alhaji Dr. Nuhu Muhammadu Sunusi who was present at the event, expressed joy and gratitude for witnessing the event that has become a rallying point for many prominent people from across the country.
He prayed for continuous progress for the association and the leaders to keep the flame burning in their effort in uplifting BIKOBA.
In his welcome address the BIKOBA national president, Alhaji Ja’afar Usman Muhammad (Turakin Gaya) said Government college Birnin Kudu today accommodates over 2000 students adding that the numerical strength is enough to expose the numerous challenges facing the school.
He said the association was doing a lot to uplift the infrastructural facilities of the school.
The national president commended members of the association for their efforts in bringing about unity and brotherhood.
