Worried by the unabated and fragrant violation of sanitation laws on restriction of movement during sanitation excercise, the state government has threatened to ban use of commercial tricycles and motorcycle in the cities.

The Commissioner of Environment and natural resouses, Hon Yakubu Kwanta gave the warning on Saturday while addressing journalists shortly after the monthly sanitation exercise in Lafia.

Kwanta said the level of compliance by residents across the state has risen due to the aggressive awareness embarked upon by the ministry.

“Nasarawa is next to Lagos on implementation of sanitation excercise. Our challenge is the commercial tricyclists and motorcyclists who are not complying.

“We will talk to their associations and if they remained adamant we will ban them from operating in the state”.

Kwanta however appealed to residents to support governor Abdullahi Sule in his reelection bid

The Chief prosecutor, Mr. Abubakar Mohammed also told journalists that 76 sanitation offenders were arrested over non compliance across the state.

Mr. Abubakar urged residents to take advantage of the excercise to clean up their environment including gutters.
