2023: Newly deployed Jigawa REC Assumes duty

The newly deployed Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) to Jigawa state, professor Muhammad Lawal Bashar has assumed duty.
He said the commission is set to display the list of registered voters in the state.

The REC made the disclosure while speaking to newsmen in the commission’s headquarters in Dutse.

He called on the people of the state to check for their names and pictures.

Professor Bashar explained that the commission would display the register in all the 287 electoral wards in the state from 12 to 25 of this month (November).

He urged the Media to sensitise and educate the communities to come out enmass to check their names and pictures on the list to notify INEC in case of any error.

According to him, INEC is taking the action in order to make the impact of it’s worth felt among the registered voters in the state.

He further explained that INEC has also made arrangement for People with Disability as well as the blind on how they can check their names and cast their voters during the elections.

He said already the law has protected and embedded it in the electoral process to enable the people with special needs cast their votes during elections.
