Nigerian Garment Industry partners EU countries on arms, ammunitions to tackle insecurity
The chief Executive Officer of Portharcourt Garment Factory, Jim Okolo is collaborating with some EU countries on the possibility of setting up arms and ammunition production factory to help tackle insecurity.
To that effect Okolo met with Col. Michele Devastato, an Italian Defence Attache to the European Union, for a bilateral partnership with the Union in tackling the menace of insecurity in the country
He pointed out that insecurity has taken its toll on the development of the country adding that with such a factory producing arms and ammunition locally the menace of insecurity can be tamed.
Okolo also indicated that now that the country is looking inwards with local content as its priority it is banking on private investors to produce what it needs.
Hence he is ready to partner with the Union in establishing a robust Service uniform industry of international standard.
Recently, the Commandant General of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi commended the garment factory in Portharcourt after an inspection tour.
He had expressed satisfaction with the level of production at the multifunctional, world class garment factory in Port Harcourt.
The Commandant General specifically lauded the Chief Executive Officer of the factory for the standard and other technological facilities used in the factory.
He said: “I am impressed with what I have seen here today at Portharcourt Garment Factory Owned By JIMCO Global Concept Limited. There is no doubt, this factory can feed the nation with all the different wears it needs”.
“This is what all Nigerians should do to keep promoting the image of the country. What Hon. Jim has done here shows that we have people with capacity that can make the nation proud”.
He commended the CEO, Hon. Jim Okolo for such creative investment, with emphasis on their capacity and world-class machineries.
Also, the Federal Road Safety and the fire service bosses had made similar visits to the factory.
Okolo while thanking the CG for his visit assured that the factory will partner with his organisation are have the capacity to produce all it’s hardwares.
According to Okolo, other heads of sister agencies both Military and Paramilitary have visited the Garment factory for inspection. Some of which includes the CG, Federal Fire Service, the Nigeria Police and other security agencies across the country.
