LP promises to work with Nigeria’s fin-tech industries to rebuild the country
***To unveil strong economic development strategy
The Labour Party has promised to work in synergy with Nigeria’s tech and innovation sector which have recorded tremendous successes, to rebuild the country when it takes over the reigns of power in Nigeria come 2023
The national chairman of the Labour party Barrister Julius Abure gave the indication on Monday in Abuja in his address at the Labour Party National Retreat with the theme: Nigeria at a crossroad, Labour party as the only option: Labour Party in Focus.
According to him,
“There has been a huge growth in Nigeria’s tech and innovation sector. Out of the seven African start-ups that have reached a valuation of over $1 billion, five are Nigerian. Interswitch, Opay, Andela and others are all local Nigerian fin-tech start-ups.”
He said there are numerous other companies that if backed in the right way can also reach unicorn status.
“These companies are forced to operate outside of any government master plan, without government support. Any government interaction often tends to be parasitic despite the fact that the tech sector is currently the largest contributor to our economy.
“The Labour Government will work hand in hand with this budding ecosystem, giving more than we take, and enabling these companies to help us rebuild Nigeria.
“We have a strong economic development strategy that will be Publicly very soon. This is why we are Engaging young dynamic private sector leaders to help us shape our framework.”
According to him, the party has expanded on all fronts and as such the need to have this retreat to bring everyone together to strategize and develop a methodological approach for the campaign with a view to ensuring victory for the party and all of its candidates.
“Never in the history of this party have we had the opportunity and platform that we have today. As you know the Labour Party was formed by Nigerian workers Over 20,years ago to fulfill the aspirantions of trade unions, civil societies and human right groups.
“We continue to grow in leaps and bounds, evidenced by our current position as One of the leading opposition parties in the current political equation of the nation.
“What a time We have Found ourselves in; we are in the best position to proffer Valid and effective solutions to the ills that plague our nation”
