To curb Cholera Outbreak in Jigawa CBOs, SCI begin enlightenment on hygiene

The Save the Children International (SCI) has flagged off community sensitisation on personal and environmental hygiene as part of prevention of possible outbreak of cholera and other communicable diseases in Jigawa State.
This was contained in a statement issued, in Dutse by the Social Behaviour Change and Media Coordinator of the Integrated Sustainable Childhood Pneumonia and other Infectious Disease Reduction in Nigeria (INSPIRING Project), Mr Ibrahim Haruna
He said, the programme is designed to hold in 10 local government areas of the state.

According to the statement the project is a joint project between the SCI and Community Based Oganization (CBOs) in the selected towns and villages in the affected local government areas.

The statement explained that “the selected areas for the exercise are the places where cholera outbreak claimed hundreds of lives last year.

It stated that they are being proactive this year, working with the state ministry of health and LGAs to conduct community engagement and WASH activities”.

The local government areas includes Dutse, Birninkudu, Ringim, Hadejia Malammadori and Jahun local government areas.

Others are Gwaram, Guri, Buji and Garki local government areasare.
