FCCPC sets up Probe Panel over death of director allegedly Killed by female Colleague
Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), governing board has set up a probe panel to unravel the mistry behind the death of Julius Haruna, the North-West Zonal Director,
Haruna was said to have died after a disagreement with a female colleague, Muibat Abdusalam which degenerated into fisticuffs between the two.
The Board in a statement signed by its Secretary, Tam Tamunokonbia, on the subject issued in Abuja, on Tuesday confirmed that Haruna lost his life in the Commission’s Katsina State office, last Wednesday.
It was gathered that in the bid to ensure fair, transparent and credible investigations, the Board directed an immediate, though temporary relief of relevant leadership and operatives within the Commission.
According to Tamunokonbia, a legal practitioner, who is also a member of the board, Dr Ben Nwoye, was appointed to chair the probe, charged with unravelling what led to the unfortunate incident.
He added that AVM Wakili Ahmed, (Rtd), also a member of the board, would function as co-chairman of the panel.
The board, Tamunokonbia also disclosed directed that representatives from the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and Office of the Head of Service of the Federation, be invited as members of the panel.
He said, “The Katsina State Police command is currently carrying its own investigations. Abdusalam is currently detained by the command.
“The commission will continue to make appropriate, full and frank disclosures of information, any investigative outcomes and or judicial processes, where applicable.
“The commission notwithstanding continues to discharge its mandate including across the North-West region.”
In the interim, the Board has extended its condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased, Tamunokonbia added
