Christian stakeholders have called on God for urgent intervention on the worsening spate of security in the country

They spoke on Thursday during the ‘Nigeria Praise Declaration for Peace 2022’, themed: ‘Sacrifice of Praise’, held at Jubilee Hall in Abuja.

Speaking on the theme of the event, the former governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency Bala Nggilari said Nigeria is in a situation where everyone is calling for God’s intervention.

He however indicated that God’s intervention can only be felt when there is a sacrifice of praise.
He said, “When you talk about sacrifice, people give sacrifice because they want either a deity or something to fight for them.

“In our present situation, everyone is calling on God to fight for them, but the only time God fights for us is when we praise. And that is the instruction he gave us; that we should flood the land with praise because he wants to fight and give us peace in our land to enable us to have a successful election.”

Speaking further, the convener of the Praise crusade, pastor Fidelis Chukwuemeka said that with praise and worship, Christians are known as Christians all over the world.
Chukwuemeka stressed the need for Christians and Nigerians at large to unite, form a rallying point and stay away from any form of distraction that will heat up the polity in the build-up to the 2023 general election.
He advised candidates to maintain peace at all costs and shun electoral violence and malpractices, saying that winning an election is not do or die.
He said, “As Christians, we can be lights to the world and we can be the rallying point and unifiers, not only to Christians but to other Nigerians. They will see that indeed, these people are united
“My advice to Christians and Nigerians generally is that we should refuse to be distracted.”
“If you are contesting an election and you don’t get it this time around, don’t scatter the votes, hold on, don’t scatter the nation, pray for the winners, your time will come. It will be great for you in the future.”
He added that Nigeria has several resources which if put to use, would make Nigeria a better place for its citizenry.
Also adding his voice, the provost of the praise crusade, Dr Simon Dolly lamented the deplorable and unsafe state of the country, stating that the wisdom of ‘our’ leaders have failed Nigeria, and as a result, only God’s intervention would assure the desired change.
“The only person that can save this country today is God because the situation is getting terrible every day. That’s why we organised this praise and worship and God said when we praise him, he is going to fight for us. We are asking God to fight for Nigerians.”
On the forthcoming election, Dr Dolly said, “We should not allow ourselves to be divided in the angle of religion because the politicians are doing that to set confusion among us.
“Vote for the candidate you want devoid of religion, let’s get a good leader that can give us a new phase of life; whether from the North, South, East or West – Somebody that will lead Nigeria out of this challenge we’re facing.”
He said the Praise Declaration 2022 would be held across the 6 geopolitical zones.
