2023: Kwankwaso grabs NNPP presidential ticket unopposed

A former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has has been elected presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) at the party’s presidential primary held on Wednesday.
He was elected without any challenger having been the only aspirant that bought the presidential nomination forms after he was screened at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja

Kwankwaso in his remarks expressed appreciation to all those who dropped their presidential aspirations for him and the delegates that elected him. Kwankwaso said that he would do whatever mattered to ensure the success of NNPP and its candidates for various elective positions in the 2023 general elections.

“Our party is so lucky, to have young men and women with integrity contesting various positions in 2023. While congratulating all of us, I want to urge Nigerians to vote for NNPP.”

He said that NNPP stood for peace, unity, stability and development of Nigeria. Kwankwaso urged the delegates and party members not to go back home and sleep but to keep convincing eligible voters across all ethnic groups and religions to vote for NNPP in the 2023 general elections.

Kwankwaso had earlier pledged that when elected, his administration would carry citizens along without favour on ethnicity or religious bias. He also promised that his administration would provide the necessary infrastructure for the development of Nigeria.

Also at the venue, the former Governor of Kano State, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, described the convention as a moment of change for Nigeria.

“This is a moment of change for our youths and women. Change for our economy and change for the nation. Nigeria is a potentially great nation. What we need is purposeful and committed leadership.

Shekarau gave the assurance that Kwankwaso, who was his predecessor and successor, would win the 2023 presidential election.

Shekarau recently dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the NNPP after he fell out with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje. He earned the NNPP ticket to contest the 2023 election for a return to represent Kano Central

Shekarau said Nigerians are yearning for purposeful leadership, adding that Kwankwaso was a better option for Nigerians. 

Also speaking, NNPP National Chairman, Alhaji Rufai Alkali, said the party can boast of men and women of integrity that would change the leadership vacuum of the country.

He indicated that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso would emerge as the presidential candidate of the NNPP through affirmation by the delegates as he is the only aspirant that bought the presidential form and have been screened.
