2023 SDP presidential Primary: Nuhu-Aken’Ova steps down for Prince Adebayo

As the Social Democratic Party readies for its presidential primary convention on Wednesday, a strong contender for the Presidential ticket of the Party Cesnabmihilo Dorothy Nuhu-Aken’Ova has stepped down for Prince Adewale Adebayo over zoning.

Prince Adebayo is walking into the primary election unopposed as the party,’s presidential election screening panel had earlier disqualified another female aspirant Khadija Okunnu-Lamidi
Announcing her decision to step down at a press conference held at Princess Lillian House, Katankpe in Abuja on Tuesday Nuhu-Aken’Ova said since the party had zoned the Presidential ticket to the South West she has no option as a loyal party person to step down.

“As you all know, before today i was in the race for the Presidential ticket which has been zoned to the South West of Nigeria.
“This has automatically ruled me our ot the race. As an obedient and loyal member of the social democratic party I am declaring before you all that I have stepped down my aspiration.
She pointed out that her abiding reason for seeking the highest office of the land was never about her but to propagate the real change in Nigeria that will cause a turn around for Nigeria and her citizens.
“I am pleased to inform you therefore having been made ineligible, that I have identified a formidable candidate who is eligible for the contest who also shares the same passion, Ideals and aspirations for the socio-economic development of Nigeria and her citizens as I do, I have decided to throw all my weight behind this credible candidate, he is amiable and highly esteemed colleague Prince Adewale Adebayo.
“I call on everyone to rally around us to coast to victory together. Let me also assure you that this decision was taken in full consultation with my supporters and constituents.
“I want to thank my campaign team for their support they have given me on this journey and I solicit for your continued support as we gallop together to 2023 general election.
“Let us work harder with our new formidable team and the Social Democratic Party not relenting until we reclaim the presidency for the people of Nigeria under the leadership of Prince Adewale Adebayo.”
Former minister of Youths and sports Solomon Dalung described SDP as the second oldest Party in Nigeria.
“SDP is the casualty of the Nigerian political experiment. It is a party that is not new to Nigerians, it is a Party that Nigerians have trusted that has elected Nigerians from councillor to President before the military calamity came.
“30 years after, the party is trying to recover from the devastating blow it suffered way back during the June 12th Presidential election annulment. He said the new leaders of the party believe in reviving and resuscitating the vision of the democratic martyr chief MKO Abiola.

Prince Adebayo in response said it us not the last time Nigerians will hear of her, but the begining of her journey as she continues in her journey.
