Law Week: Niger CJ declares 4 days free of court processes

The acting chief judge of Niger state, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik has declared four days free of court activities to enable legal practitioners commemorate the 2022 law week.
This is particularly to ensure practicing lawyers in Minna branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) fully participate in the week long program
The law week with the theme: Law and Democracy Progress, Challenges and prospects, is scheduled to hold from the 3rd to 10th of June, 2022, in Minna.
Addressing journalists at a press conference in Minna at the weekend, the chairman organising commitee, Barrister Gimba Mohammed stated that the chief judge of Niger State Justice Abdulmalik knowing the important attached to the law week declared four days free of court activities at the High and lower courts across the state from 6th to 10th June 2022 to attend the program.
Equally, he disclosed that the Grand Khadi of Niger State, Justice Ibrahim Jikantoro has communicated to all Shari’a courts across the state to join their counterparts to commemorate the law week.
He explained that federal High Court and industrial court in Minna divisional area were exempted from the court free session.
Barrister Mohammed, said over 400 practicing lawyers in the state are expected to attend the law week assuring that the it will be educative and entertaining.
He maintained that the law week which will last for 10 days had commenced with special Juma’at prayer at the central mosque with special Sunday service at St Peter Anglican Church in Minna.
He disclosed that the programs line up for the event include a sensitisation visit to some selected secondary Schools in Minna, visit to the commandant of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA), and paper presentation/ discussion session all aimed at improving their legal performance and also acquaint them with criminal Justice law .
While urging all practising lawyers in the branch to participate, the chairman organising committee informed them that the law week is an avenue for them to refresh their knowledge stating that all participants will at the end of the program be issued with certificate.
