Ogidi Day: Community unveils Leke Abejide as Chairman of Festival
The Ogidi community has announced the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Customs, Hon (Elder) Leke Abejide as the chairman of the Ogidi Day Festival.
The letter, signed by the Director-General, Ogidi Day Festival, Mr. Tunde commended him for bringing fresh air into the politics of Okunland.
He explained,
“In arriving at the decision to request you to serve as the Chairman of what, unarguably, is Nigeria’s biggest culture event in June, we took into consideration your role in the leadership of Okunland since you secured the House of Representatives seat. You have brought a wave of fresh air into politics in Okunland.
“You have demonstrated an uncommon love and compassion for our people. You have challenged the existing order and have birthed a new thinking which has brought great benefits to our people. You have made us to know, by your comportment and sacrifice, what servant leadership truly means. You have raised the bar of performance in public office for your colleagues and those aspiring to venture into the arena in future.”
The Ogidi Day Festival holds on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the Community Hall Grounds, Agegbe, Ogidi, Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi State at 10am
A statement issued by the organizers of the event inducated that the lawmaker has graciously accepted the invitation to be the Chairman of this year’s Ogidi Day Festival. The statement quoted Hon Abejide to have indicated that he was thrilled at the opportunity to share the honour of being the Chairman of the event with many eminent and illustrious Nigerians who came before him.
He said that on receiving the community’s invitation, he had consulted widely and did research into the Festival.
He said he was satisfied with the goals and content of the Festival as well as the success of the Ogidi community in positioning the event as a key driver of development and one of the most talked about tourism and culture events in Nigeria and beyond.
The lawmaker said he had a passion for community development and would not let go of any opportunity to give a helping hand to those who want to uplift their communities.
He expressed the hope that this year’s programme, which marks the 10th anniversary of the Festival would be a roaring success.
