APC primaries: Smart Adeyemi in a dramatic defeat as Sunday Karimi picks APC Kogi West ticket
Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District Smart Adeyemi on Saturday lost the ticket of All Progressives Congress (APC) to Mr Sunday Karimi.
Karimi polled 288 votes to traunce Adeyemi, who got 43 votes and four others for the Kogi West Senatorial District at the APC Primary held in Kabba Saturday.
The Kogi West incumbent senator came third while one Dr. Muri Aina, who got 73 came second.
The three others are Mrs Adedoyin-Eshanumi 1, Mohamed Wambai 9 and Christopher Oni 1 Vote.
Karimi who emerged the APC flagbearer for Kogi West Senatorial District had represented Yagba Federal Constituency from 2011 to 2016 at the House of Representatives.
Speaking shortly after his Victory, Karimi expressed gladness with the outcome of the party’s primary and thanked God and the delegates for the counting him worthy to serve his constituency.
He assured his constituents responsive and quality representation at the upper chamber by stimulating development in the district.
According to him, “If elected come 2023, I will justify the confidence reposed on me by the delegates and the APC.”
Karimi saluted the courage and fighting zeal of his rivals as he called on them to leave behind them the loss and join hands with him to build the party and the constituency for the better.
