APC Primaries: Senator Almakura,, nephew win senate, Reps seats in Nasarawa

Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura representing Nasarawa south senatorial zone under the All Progressive Congress, (APC) has emerged winner in the primary election.

Almakura was declared winner unopposed in a consensus election by the delegates.

In his acceptance speech, senator Almakura said he was overwhelmed by the affections meted to him by the APC in the state.

He promised to do more for the people of his constituency in the coming years.

Earlier hon. Almakura Mohammed (nephew to Tanko Almakura) defeated hon. Abubakar Tahiru, the incumbent Member representing Lafia/Obi Nasarawa State in the House of Representatives.
Hon. Almakura Mohammed who emerged winner polled a total of 35 votes to emerge the APC’s candidate for the federal constituency.
Almakura Mohammed was a two team member of the house of Representatives between 2003 and 2011.
The incumbent House of Representatives member however scored 32 votes in the primary.

The returning officer, Dr. Ogamusa Ari while announcing the result said that the primary election was free, fair and transparent.
